EGMO: Day Two
THAT'S IT! The competition is over!!!!!
The morning of Day Two dawned non-bright and bleary...unfortunately, the girls had trouble sleeping the night before, and I had 4 zombies peering at me over breakfast. Our theory is jet lag settled in...we've all been taking turns not sleeping well for at least one night.
Ah well - it happens, all part of the Olympiad experience. Day Two was tougher - coming out of Day 2, our girls were not as cheerful about their performance, and mentioned that they just felt exhausted during the competition. That's okay, I'm happy to give you a preview and say that no-one is walking away with 0 points (or at least, we will be defending non-zero points in front of our coordinators!)
After the competition, we went for a quick gelato break, and the consensus was that this last place was THE BEST. For those of you who are interested, Vivoli was the name of the gelato place - fresh ingredients, no preservatives, and unusual (as well as classic) flavors that were delicious. Yesterday I tried the caramel pear - highly recommend! Here's Canmoo enjoying a couple scoops :)
After gelato, we had to speed back in order to be ready to write the Euclid competition! The Euclid competition is such an important competition for the University of Waterloo, Dorette arranged for the girls to write it remotely in Italy. Unfortunately, it meant we had to write it the same day as Day Two...ah what a long day for the girls :( It also meant that they missed one of the excursions for the trip, but they will be on the big trip to Pisa the next day.
Day Two over means that Dorette and I are really up to bat to defend team scores at coordination. Wish us luck!
