A First for Canada!
I'm back!!
This time, I'm Deputy Leader for Math Team Canada at the European Girl's Math Olympiad (EGMO) - the world's largest all girls math competition. I am proud to say that this is Canada's first time sending a team to compete, and even prouder to have been part of the journey.
EGMO 2018 (http://www.egmo2018.org/) is being held in Florence, Italy this year. It differs from the IMO in that the teams are all girls, and comprise of 4 members vs 6. Our first team this year has three members from the Toronto area, and one student from Vancouver (https://cms.math.ca/MediaReleases/2018/EGMO2018)
Our travels started SUnday, April 8, with Karen flying to meet us in Toronto. From there, we took a connecting flight to Florence via Paris. 16 hours after meeting in Toronto, we are sitting in the lobby of our hotel. As I write this, the team is currently passed out on a couch in the lobby waiting for our rooms.
