It's all fun and games...

A time honored math camp tradition - all the games!!

Back in my day, the games that reigned supreme were Mafia, Mao, or tinkering on the piano in the Rension College dining hall during the Waterloo Math Seminars.  It's much easier to be entertained now, but I'm pleased to see that the students are very social!  While everyone is guilty of playing a mobile game during dinner or on an excursion, every day we're been getting together to play some games together.

The overwhelming favorite is Red 10 - a very confusion team based card games where 2 & 3's are higher than A's, but less than red 10's, while the 10 of clubs is only beaten by a joker.  I'd say a close second is the game Avalon - a mafia-esque game that is based on the tales of King Arthur and his knights.  We've also played Logic - a mentally tasking guessing game played with 4 people, Fish, and Wizard.

The students have managed to go out and play basketball and soccer a couple times as well, officially making this is the most active group of math students I have ever seen.

And then, my favorite - Karaoke night!  The Mexican team joined us for a night of random song and dance!  Qi Qi might have some very very entertaining videos...some highlights:

- Matt and James singing and dancing to "White and Nerdy"...and then "Single Ladies"
- Max singing "Alberta Bound" like a good Calgarian
- Qi Qi singing "Take me to Church"
- Everyone joining in on Barbie Girl
- Thomas knows every pop song in existence
- William practicing, and then performing a dance to a popular Chinese song
- My attempt to salsa with Steven
- My favorite - everyone dancing to Psy's Gangnam Style, and Silento's Watch Me (Whip whip, watch me nae nae!)

Promises to me more games to come as we have a 12 hour layover in Houston on Saturday...wish us luck!
